Maintenance-Operations
The Maintenance and Operations Department is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and operation of all school district facilities, equipment, and grounds. The ultimate goal is that all of the school buildings and systems are safe, functional and in compliance with local, state and federal regulations.
Included in the responsibilities is oversight of the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, electrical systems, plumbing, roofing and other infrastructure. The maintenance staff conducts regular inspections of buildings and ground to identify repairs and improvements, as well as respond to specific requests from staff.
Among the duties of the department is the daily cleaning and upkeep of the buildings, including special cleaning and maintenance each summer in preparation for a new school year.
When needed, the department coordinates with outside contractors for specialized repairs and large projects. Upkeep of the grounds and snow removal is a priority for the maintenance and operations team. This includes preparing athletic fields for competition (for example, painting lines). In addition, the department continually looks for ways to be more energy efficient.
